Heritage House has been nearly 25 years in the making; evolving, over time, into a venue nestled on our 30 acre family estate.
I am Cindi Baker. I am, admittedly, a dreamer. I created Heritage House, and I’ve been known to refer to “her” as my beloved “fourth child”.
After growing up in New Orleans, and graduating from Newcomb College, I moved to Houston. There, I soon met Rex, a handsome young lawyer, whose roots ran as deep in Texas, as mine ran in Louisiana. Our blind date led to marriage, three perfect children (are there any other kind?), an assortment of pets, and creative projects.
Rex’s love of the great state of Texas, the Hill Country, Austin and The University had been instilled and nurtured at an early age. His college and law school years further cemented that bond. We found this beautiful piece of property in Dripping Springs in 1990, and put down new roots…knowing we wanted our children to grow up in this idyllic setting.
As our children grew, so did our little piece of heaven. Three cottages were built and were joined soon after by an open-air pavilion where family and friends could gather. Grace Chapel followed, and has witnessed the happy, the sad and the bittersweet moments of life.
Our now adult children have moved away, setting out on their own paths, giving their loving support and encouragement to me to follow my heart’s desire to share this piece of Hill Country heaven with others.
In 2011, we hosted our daughter in law and son’s wedding in June; then that of a friend’s son and daughter in law in November. Heritage House was officially put on the map…and into the search engines!
The Event Barn was staked out and completed in time for an October 6, 2012 wedding. Their families and friends strolled the inviting stone walkways and enjoyed all the features and buildings of the venue as the celebration unfolded.
Rex and I have felt and continue to feel honored to be a part of the new beginning for each couple drawn to this land of natural, rustic beauty…where the dreamer in me has created a place to be graciously shared. As we move into 2018, Rex and I are now looking forward to making the venue our private residence and family’s home once again. We will always cherish our found memories of Heritage House and the events that took place here.
